Ice Cream Social

The MLNA Ice Cream Social is our biggest social event of the year. The 2020 Ice Cream Social was not held due to the pandemic, but we plan to hold it in 2021 on Sunday, September 5, from 3:00 to 5:00 in Monta Loma Park.

The 2019 Ice Cream Social drew more than 300 people and enabled them to:

  • Meet their neighbors, both long-time and newcomers.
  • Enjoy free ice cream and toppings.
  • Buy a Monta Loma tee shirt and the new logo items.
  • Ask Gizmo Gary to make you a balloon creation.
  • Learn more about the city’s RecreationZero Waste and Food Scraps & Recycling programs.
  • Visit our Community Emergency Response Team’s (CERT) display and sign up.
  • Stop by the PTA table to learn what is new at our school.
  • Chat with the members of our police department.
  • Visit Laureen’s Allergy-Friendly Gardening table.
  • Contribute some local lore or artifacts to the Monta Loma History display and learn about Neighborhood Watch.
  • Enjoy some pink cotton candy.
  • Look for a visit by the MV Fire Department.
  • See what’s aboard the Mobile Library, get a library card, and check out items.
  • Meet then-Mayor Lisa Matichak and two members of the MVLAHSD board.
  • Chat with then-Chief Max Bosel and Sgt. Wally Magee, and pet a canine member of our police department.
  • Ask questions about trees at the Canopy table.
