Monta Loma piggybacks on the Citywide Garage Sale to publicize our own neighborhood garage sale and driveway giveaway. For Monta Loma, it’s a popular social event as neighbors stroll the streets, admire front gardens, and chat in driveways. Kids set up lemonade stands.
Having a high concentration of dots on the sale-locations map attracts shoppers from outside Monta Loma. Last year, when neighbors who hadn’t planned to participate saw the huge number of shoppers, they also set out their no-longer-needed items.
Printed copies of the map are also available outside the City Hall main entrance (500 Castro St) and at the curb next to the Mountain View Library above-ground parking lot at 585 Franklin Street.
